Summer Camp Health Care Provider
Watkins Health Services (WHS) has provided quality health care to summer camp participants for more than a decade. They receive the same high level of care by the same professional staff that treats university students. Our physicians are all board certified and many of our staff members are also parents. We understand the needs of campers and we understand the concerns of parents! That is why if a camper comes here for healthcare, we will contact the parent or guardian (in compliance with the laws of Kansas) as soon as possible.
In addition to a staff of skilled physicians and nurse practitioners, we have these services within Watkins:
- Nurse Triage
Please refer to the health/safety information for the University of Kansas summer youth programs. You will find a packet of medical forms (PDF) that we recommend for parents to complete in advance of the start of camp. These would be given to the Camp Sponsor/Director for safe-keeping. In the event that your camper requires medical care at WHS, the Camp will provide someone to bring him/her to our facility along with the packet of forms. These will enable us to initiate prompt care of your camper.
Location of WHS
WHS is located within Watkins Memorial Health Center, which is located right on campus, directly north of the Ambler Recreation Center at 1200 Schwegler Drive.
If any charges are to be billed to any insurance company, WHS must have a copy of the camp participant's insurance card at the time of visit. Any charges not paid for by the insurance company will be the responsibility of the camp participant (or parent or guardian). WHS cannot bill Medicaid, KanCare, Medicare, or HealthWave.
