Allergy Injections and Immunizations
Allergy Shots
KU students may continue their Allergy Immunotherapy Treatment Plan at Watkins Health Services. We will coordinate your care with the Allergist of your choice.
Immunizations
Students can receive a wide variety of immunizations at Watkins Health Services. For a listing of immunizations and a Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) about each vaccine, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.
See Travel Health for information on travel vaccines and travel health.
Appointments
KU students can make an appointment for allergy injections and immunizations at 785-864-9507.
KU faculty and staff can also receive Allergy Immunotherapy and a wide variety of immunizations by making an appointment with the Faculty/Staff Clinic at 785-864-9565.
- For allergy shots, include an additional 30 minutes to your appointment to allow time for the mandatory observation period after you receive the allergen injection. Bring your Epi Pen to each appointment.
- For immunizations, certain ones require an additional 15 minutes to your appointment to allow time for the mandatory observation period.
- For travel immunizations, visit WHS at least 6-8 weeks before your trip abroad. This allows enough time for the vaccines you need to take effect, and ensures you have plenty of time to get vaccines that require more than one dose. If you are referred by an outside provider, please bring your physician’s orders with you.
Charges
There are charges assessed for allergy and immunization shots, which are not covered under the KU mandatory student health fee. Provide your current insurance information to WHS Business and Insurance Office so the bill can go directly to the insurance company. Call the WHS Business and Insurance Office at 785-864-9520 if you have questions.
