Watkins Health Services welcomes Merrill Evans, LSCSW, as our new CARE (Campus Assistance, Resource, and Education) Coordinator. Her primary role is to coordinate support services for individuals (both victims and alleged perpetrators) impacted by sexual assault, sexual battery, partner/dating violence and stalking.
Merrill has been in the mental health field for ten years and has an extensive history treating sexual violence through a therapeutic lens. Her survivor centered approach responds to the emotional and physical needs of both the complainants and respondents of sexual violence. She provides immediate crisis intervention as well as individualized support and counseling. Merrill assists individuals with managing institutional issues created by the victimization and helps them navigate the system.
The CARE Coordinator is a confidential position and is not required to report incidents to University officials or organizations unless authorized by the student. She educates students on their reporting options both internally (through the Office of Institutional Opportunity & Access) and externally (through the criminal process).
