Aftan is a Lawrence, KS native and attended Lawrence High School. Getting her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kansas she developed a passion for health and wellness, particularly nutrition, and became a Peer Health Educator Volunteer for the Watkins HERO department. After graduation, Aftan worked at Baker University where she worked on her Master’s degree and developed her second passion - higher education. Coming back to the Health Education Resource Office as a staff member allowed her to work with her two passions where she coordinates the Eat Well Live Well nutrition program educating students on healthier lifestyles and eating habits.
